"Let's Segregate Waste. Save Our Planet!"
Learn how separating wet and dry waste can make a huge difference.
What is waste segregation?
Waste segregation is just a simple task of throwing dry waste and wet waste in seperate trash bin. We can consider this best practise at our home, workplace, public place.etc to make our overall waste recycling process more easy and hassle free. There are several benefits to our environment for doing this:
1. Reduces land fill and groundwater contamination:
Dry waste and wet waste together pollutes the land and due to this, many health and environmental issues occur like breeding of insects, emitting foul smells, infections, spreading disease outbreaks which cause very difficult for people and animals to survive in nearby location. So due to segregation, we cannot only reduce landfill problems in an area but also separate the process of recycling the dry waste and composting the wet waste which results in clean surroundings.
2. Boost recycling process level:
Since unsegregated wastes are very difficult to recycle which results in having only the option of burning them and polluting the air with hazardous smoke most of the time, a segregated waste can be easy and hassle free for the workers of dumping grounds to recycle the dry wastes like paper, metal, glass and plastic without burden. Also, process of creation of nutrient-rich fertilizer through wet waste becomes hassle free. Overall, both processes got smooth results in increasing percentage of waste processing system.
3. Reduces the cost of municipality/waste department:
Sorting the waste saves much cost of government like it required less workers. Also the problem of purchasing and operating some special type of machine to segregate wastes got eliminated. There are no pressures on labours working on dumping ground area to sort the waste results in reducing tasks. Besides these, it also supports cleaner cities and faster waste collection.
4. Protects environment and health:
Since unsegregated wastes have many environmental and health drawbacks, the waste segregation process contributes a lot in cleaning the environment, reducing outbreaks, moving towards green and maintaining hygienes. It minimizes health risk of people especially garbage collectors and animal lives.
